General Motor’s Foundation Awards $5k Grant to Maury County’s Imagination Library

October 18, 2013

Wednesday in Spring Hill, TN the General Motors Foundation announced grants totaling $75,000 to support programs at 11 area nonprofits. Among the grants made was a $5,000 donation to the Maury County Imagination Library Program.

The Maury County Imagination Library is a partner of the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, which matches every donation made to county program. For every dollar that the Maury County Imagination Library raises, they are able to mail one book to a child. With the support of the General Motor’s Foundation, the Maury County Imagination Library will be able to send 5,000 high quality, age appropriate books to children under the age of five in Maury County, at no cost to the family.

“We are committed to supporting the communities that our employees and their families call home,” said GM Foundation Vice President Lori Wingerter. “These grants will benefit education programs, art and cultural organizations, and other important programs that enrich the community.”

The General Motor’s Foundation grants were awarded Wednesday at an awards luncheon. In attendance were Theresa Carl (President, Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation), Cynthia Crane (Outreach Coordinator, Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation), Jan McKeel (Coordinator, Maury County Imagination Library), & Patricia Lymon (Database Manager, Maury County Imagination Library).
